I stopped writing articles for this blog in 2014, but all my previous posts are still available to read.

The original About text from the blog’s creation in February 2011:

My New Year’s resolution was to explore Indonesia, where I have lived for several years without really travelling much. Since I often find other people’s blogs a useful source for information about destinations, accommodation etc, I thought I’d try my own, and this is it. While these are very much my own personal accounts, I have where possible included information, such as routes, prices etc, that may be of use to fellow travellers. I hope you enjoy reading it. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

  1. Hi Rachel – good to read your blog and be reminded of my trips around Sumatra. Siti Nurbaya is generally understood to be the first modern Indonesian novel, by the Minang author Marah Rusli, published in 1922 (or 21, can’t remember). It is pretty much a standard text, and while a bit slow is still a good read – you should be able to get a copy in Gramedia, or certainly in decent book market.
